Friday Funny

Here are a few things out of my girls' mouths this last week that might make you laugh because they made me laugh! 

Lauren after seeing a commercial:  "Hey Mommy, when I grow up I want to wear bras and get big boobies like you!" 

Kaelin:  "Ice Ice Baby do do do do do do doo doo" - In tune and all..

Lauren followed me in the bathroom while Aunt Flow happened to be in town:  "Oh No, mommy! Do you need a bandaid?!"  -- She was legitimately concerned. 

Kaelin to her dad:  "Pull my finger...toot"  - I swear he taught them that! 

During Bedtime prayers: 
Lauren:  "I am thankful for a door, a window and a forehead"
Kaelin with her finger in her nose:  "I got boogers"

Kaelin's 2nd Birthday

We started out the day with our tradition birthday doughnut!  She was so excited!  We found an awesome locally owned donut shop about 10 minutes from here and it is so much more delicious and WAY cheaper than our favorite place in Kansas!  We have yet to get there though when they have their Maple/Bacon bars out.  They are out every time! Bummer!

 
She wasn't much for vocalizing what she wanted for her birthday this year except for "chocolate cake"  That's all she would ever answer when asked what she wanted for her birthday or what she wanted on her cake.."just chocolate" .  That was until the day before her birthday.  She decided she wanted a Minnie Mouse cake.  We searched for a pre-made one at the Walmart bakery but no luck.  We settled on a two layered chocolate-chocolate fudge cake and I added the Minnie Mouse ears that I made out of cardstock and just taped to a popsicle stick.  It was perfect and she loved it.  We used what we had for decorations and it turned out really cute!  Just goes to show you don't need to spend ANY money on decorations. Besides the 97cents on the balloons and 97 cent (2pack) table cloth, I didn't spend anything else on decor. I used what we had to make banners and what not.  I think so many people get caught up in spending a ton of money on their decorations and popularity contest to show who had the best party.  All I care about on their big day is that they know it's special and they are loved.  I'd rather put that money towards presents!

They day was laid back and just perfect because they 4 of us were together.  She loved all over her toys.  Her favorites were her bubble machine (which they still play with daily) and her princess horse and carriage.  I can't believe that my little bug is already 2 and still growing.  She keeps us on our toes and is seriously a hilarious kid.  Her sound effects and voices that she uses are just too funny.  She is just full of personality and is a wild child but is the best snuggler ever!  We love you, Kaelin Deborah! 

Happy 2nd Birthday Kaelin Deborah!

I can't believe my baby girl is 2 years old today. These last 2 years have seriously flown by. Especially the last year.  We can't wait to celebrate with her today.  My heart seriously swells with happiness knowing Kevin has FINALLY been home for birthdays with both of his little girls.  Kaelin's only request is chocolate cake, chocolate cake and more chocolate cake!  I'll post more pictures after the day is done.  Happy Birthday Kbug!! We can't imagine our lives without you! 

Weekly weigh-in: 214.2

Down 1.4lbs from last week.  I am happy to see the scale gradually go down.  Still my one major fault is weighing myself everyday.  I'm obsessed.  I know!  I almost need Kevin to take it away and hide for the week. 
I sucked it up this week and put the girls in childcare at the gym.  I made it to the gym 4 times since the last weigh in. 
It's been a super busy week at our house and I would have gone more to the gym but Kaelin has had a snotty nose for a while and I was informed by the gym childcare that they don't allow kids with snotty noses if the snot is green/yellow.  I understand where they are coming on but come on, kids have snotty noses. Kids pass germs.  Kaelin has been a snot bucket since she was born. In Kansas I don't there was more than 2 months total that she wasn't without a snotty nose because of allergies.  They (allergies) seem to have subsided once we moved and I honestly believe she just has a cold because of the climate changes and the fact that she is teething and her fingers are always in her mouth.  Also, I have been sneezing like crazy and I sometimes here Lauren sniffling but nothing to the extent of Kaelin's snot-fest.  There were a few days that it was super sticky/thick and greenish, so in case of an infection I got her into the doctor this morning.   I'm actually taking both girls for their well checks and a few issues that I have concerns with.  Anyway.  My beef with the gym child care is that I would never jeopardize the health of another family by sending my SICK child to their care.  In fact the lady told me they only had to wipe Kaelin's nose once in the 90 minutes that she was there.  I don't think that's too bad..but still green and that's a no no to them.  So my point is.  If she had a fever, or was throwing up etc.  I would do what any other daycare would say:  Keep her home for 24 hours until fever subsides.  But she doesn't have a stinking fever! 
Sorry for my rant but I just think the runny nose rule is dumb.  I have kept her home the last two days and probably throughout the weekend and we'll see what the doctor says today.  It'll be one of 3 things.  Common cold (most likely), sinus infection (possible because of thick/green consistency) or once again allergies. 
So snotty nose kid = me not getting to the gym the last 2 days.  Kevin's days have been very long (14 hours ) and by the time we have supper and clean up, I just don't feel like leaving in the evening.  I actually really enjoy go during the day and getting out of the house for a few hours.  It makes me really enjoy my evenings home with my family instead of despising them. 

How was your week ?  As a parent or some of your are teachers/caregivers...  Is the snotty nose rule a little overboard or do you think they are on the right track?

Goal:  205 by August 31st.  9.4lbs to go!  That's about 2.35lbs per week for the next 4 weeks. I can do it!!

Girls will be girls...

A few months back, our landlord gave the girls these tutus that she made. They are super cute and fun for dress up!  Lauren had a blast dressing up.  Kaelin, wasn't having too much of it, that is why I have only one picture of her, and clearly her expression shows enthusiasm. Haha! 
I just love playing with these little girls.  Love them to pieces!

Still at the stage where I can actually get her to smile for pictures.  I could just eat her up.  She has the most precious little smile and dimples. 

We had such a great time. It was last minute but we decided to trick or treat on our block on the Friday before Halloween.  We went with our neighbor and her daughter.  My neighbor's husband happens to be deployed with Kevin.  They have a daughter Kaelin..spelled the exact same way as our little Kaelin. How crazy is that?! 
Lauren ran from door to door with big Kaelin. Little Kaelin, stayed in her stroller with me.  The girls had so much fun. Lauren would say "Trick or Treating" hehehe when asking for candy. It was too cute. When I'd say "Say, thank you, Lauren" she'd said "Thank you, Lauren" HA! Gotta love 2 year olds. 

I was hoping that Kevin would be home to take them trick or treating for the first time.  There will be many years ahead I'm sure. 

Giggly Girls

The girls LOVE to play in my closet.  Some nights I just let them unwind while I get some "alone" time (if you can call it that) on my computer and watching, as Lauren says "Mommy's shows". 
The girls were having a blast the other night and the giggles began.  It was so cute!

Kaelin's 1st Birthday!!

I absolutely just cannot believe that it has been a year already since Kaelin Deborah came into our lives.  She has been so fun.  She definitely is a different kid than Lauren.  Everyone said "No two kids are the same" and that is the God honest truth. 
Last week, my mom was in town for about 5 days so we did a little early celebration with her.  My mom made this super cute doll cake!  It was a big hit!  This last week, Kevin's mom and cousin Ashleigh were in town for about 5 days as well.  We spent time visiting and playing. On Kaelin's birthday we went out for lunch at Cracker Barrel and then went to the Wizard of Oz museum. It was a beautiful day for my baby girl's first birthday! 

 

Kaelin also was able to Skype and talk to Kevin.  She LOVES talking to him on the phone. She gets so excited and babbles and laughs. It is so adorable. She will walk around with the phone up to her ear just talking away. I know Kevin absolutely just loves it too.  We are so blessed to have both of our families be so supportive and loving to both of our girls.  It was a great week of celebrations. I can't wait until Kevin is home to celebrate many more with us. 
P.S.  Kevin left when Lauren was 7 weeks old, ...that means we are 45 weeks done with this deployment. 7 weeks, give or take a few days and Kevin should be home! yay!!!

Beat the heat

With temperatures over 100 degrees and heat index even higher, we are getting cabin fever and trying to find ways to beat the heat.  Today both of the girls were up at 5:30am.  We decided to load up and go to the park while it was still cool out.  We had the park all to ourselves. The grass was cool and dewey and the girls had a blast.  We went to a park we had never been to. Lauren loved all of the new playground equipment.  Wherever we go though, she has to always ride on the swings.  She loves to swing.  It's so cute to hear her say "Weeee!"  After we played for a bit, we took a walk on the trails in the subdivision.  We came home had breakfast and played for a bit before the girls took a nice long nap.  Only bad part about being up so early is that it feels like 3pm but is only noon! 

Ummm gross. Major mommy FAIL

So this morning started out as any other morning.  The girls had breakfast, were cleaned and dressed for the day and were playing together in the living room.  I decided to hop in the shower in the mean time.  I always keep the door part way open so the girls can come and go and so I can hear them.  I heard the door squeak open and I peaked out.  Kaelin had made her way down the hallway and into the bathroom, following the sound of the water I assume.  I didn't think anything of it, I was almost done showering.  Within the next minute though, I heard the sound of splashing water.  I peaked out to find her splashing her arms in the toilet.  YUCK.  To top it off, before I hopped in the shower, I had used the toilet and failed to FLUSH the stupid toilet. So my beautiful baby was playing in my pee.  NASTY.  Oh it gets better.  I freaked out and jumped out of the shower... Probably looking something like  that crazy lady above.  I was horrified to see as Kaelin turned around from my screams of "NO KAELIN" ..that she was playing with a squishy nerf ball that she had dipped in the toilet and then into her mouth.  This is where I began gagging.  Standing there dripping wet, soap in my hair/eyes, gagging, and screaming out of terror at my 10 month old.  My sweet baby just drank my pee water.  GROSS. NASTY. DISGUSTING.  Seriously?! Did I just allow this to happen?  I feel like a terrible parent.  I guess I've learned my lesson.  Never again will I "If it's yellow, let it mellow".  That rule doesn't apply with toddlers.  To top it off, in my freak out moment, I thought I had thrown the ball somewhere in the bathroom.  Turns out I just tossed it in the toilet and flushed.  I ended up elbow deep digging the stupid ball out of the toilet.  Oh man...  what a morning.  A nasty, gross, disgusting morning. Gag..

Let Freedom Ring

This is a few weeks late but I still wanted to share our Independence Day with you.  This is such a special day for us, as it should be for all Americans.  We are just so proud Kevin.  There is something so special about having a true American hero as a father and husband.  Unless you are a military child or spouse or parent etc, you may not fully grasp what fighting for our freedom means. 
I so wish Kevin could have been here to see his little firecrackers.  They were just too cute as always.  We spent the week at my parents lakehouse.  It's always so nice and relaxing.  The girls love swimming and playing outside.  I enjoyed the nice break from the everyday 'blah' that can occur when staying home with the kids everyday...
